I remember watching Video Hit Parade back in the Summer of 86. Back
then, good music videos were the rave and music video shows were one
way of finding a good song . There was the usual commercial
mainstream hum-drum and I was about to turn the tube off. Then
something caught my sights as well as my ear. That was the music
video of the song "All The King's Horses" by The Firm.
Like all good songs in my collection, this one caught my ear the first
time I heard it and being a martial arts junkie, the samurai theme was
a real treat. It was all about how strong their love is and even
though the odds are against them because they come from opposing clans
sure goes well with the theme of the song. Even without the video,
this sure was a very powerful song. The fact that it stayed at the
top for so long among listeners in my time was a testament to how good
this song is.
When I graduated from High School, I never this song again. Despite
the fact that it was a great song it faded into obscurity and to make
matters worse I lost the tape of the album which included this song.
Despite that fact, this has always remained in my mind as well as my
heart. For a romantic song, it really packs a punch. That's love
rock style with some samurai element for you.
