I remember a mini-series called "Murder Ordained" about a minister who got convicted of killing his wife and hatched a plan to kill his mistress'husband. One scene that I'll never forget was when he shouted out in frustration about how many times must he prove himself to God. Although he was in the wrong there, I can relate with that scene because a lot of times, we do all that we can just to satisfy others and it's still not enough. To add insult to injury, we are always the ones who take the fall and get hurt physically and emotionally in the process, yet all that matters to those who we do this for is that we can deliver and they still want more from us. When you start to wonder what more do you have to do, I think of the song "What Does It Take" by Honeymoon Suite.
This usually happens in one-sided situations which I truly despise. A lot of times, people do all that they can just to appeased the cravings of their friends, relatives or spouses. A lot of times, these people often push themselves to the limit and often put themselves in harm's way. Yet, the people who they do this for don't seem to care and sometimes scoff at their efforts even when these people are doing the best that they can. It's sickening because these people don't deserve being treated this way and those who put them in this situation should be ashamed of themselves.
It's obvious that life is hard and short. Because of that, we should never take the kindness and generosity of others for granted. A lot of times this people lay it on the line just to prove themselves or satisfy the difficult demands of others. I hope people realize that pressuring good people like this won't do any good. One day, they might just get up and get out.
