It Takes A Big Person To Admit His Mistakes: My Mistake By Phantom Lee Rocker And Slick

I remember watching a scene from an evening drama series where a student admitted that he lied about his accusations to his teacher. Rather than yell or beat the boy, his father told him that real man is not about how fancy his car was or stylish his clothes look. It wasn't how big his house is or the type of places that he frequents but being able to face up to the truth and being honest. That scene made a big impression on me because I realize just how important it was for a person to stand up for what is true. Learning this reminded me of the song "My Mistake" by Phantom Lee Rocker and Slick.

None of us are perfect as we each have our own erratic behavior due to our own preferences as well as our fears and a lot of times, it leads us to do foolish things that cause trouble. When that happens, there are consequences that can really hurt other people and make things. If a you're man enough, then owe up to the mistake that you made while you can still fix it. Even if there's going to be hell to pay, it's better to be brave and take your medicine than have it eat at you for the rest of your life.

As much as I hate making mistakes, I hate hiding them even more because I don't think my conscience can take that and it doesn't help anybody. I'm not saying it's easy to step and admit it but if you don't, you'll be haunted by it day and night and when the truth comes out, it's curtains for you. Only a stubborn, prideful, @#@%$% could shrug that off like it was nothing. Just remember that when you admit your faults, but sincere about it. People will know and even if you admit it, that's not going to cut it and remember it takes a big man to admit it because he sincerely wants to right a wrong.

My Anger Is More Righteous Than Yours: I'll Hate You Better By Suicidal Tendencies

You know it's incredible when people get mad around here, they think that they spread all over the place. The problem is that a lot of these jerks take their anger out on those who didn't do anything and as a result they implant their anger to others like some net virus on a computer. Pretty soon everybody's angry and no one wants to talk to each other because they think their anger is more righteous than the other guy. When it comes to spreading hate and anger, there are a lot of people who do it pretty well. Suicidal Tendencies' song "I'll Hate You Better" is appropriate for these kinds of jerks.

Let's face it, once in a while, there are times something happens which causes the root of all this anger. Unfortunately, when people get mad they tend to vent their anger on some innocent bystander and not the one caused all of it. The result is creation of more angry people and when that happens, bridges are burned and walls are erected with each thinking his or her anger is the more righteous. When that happens, more people get hit in the cross fire and they start spreading the hate around. Those who spread the anger sometimes realize what they have done because in they're mind, they had a right to be angry. Well, the news is what goes around, comes around pal and don't hit by brink on you're way in.

You know all right to be angry, but direct your anger on those who caused. In some cases, these @#$$@ are quick to forgive the culprits and have a brew with them. Man, what short memories you got but for those you offended, they don't forget and don't even try to justify your stupid acts because when you do that, you're like felons who are trying to get off the hook. Well right now, the seeds of hate are sprouting and don't know if anyone notices. I guess that's because they're is better (What Jerks!!!.

Another Rare Find: Mary Anne By Marshall Crenshaw

As I have said a lot of times, what I like about 99.5 rt's 24K program is that they play all the great songs that I grew up with, a lot of which were made famous by the station way back then. Many of them were one-hit wonders whose sound still echoes in my mind and my heart. A lot of these songs make me stop what I am doing and savor the song no matter how faint the sound. A lot of these rare tunes I have started posting in my blog to share with readers and reflect the mode of my posts. Another song that I have found from the past is the song "Mary Anne" by Marshall Crenshaw.

I thought the Nitty, Gritty Dirt Band played this song but I was mistaken. Still I like this song the first time I heard it and it goes up there with "Got A Hold On Me" by Christie McVee and the all-time favorite "Opposites Do Attract" by the Allsports Band. It's about a guy who really wants to open his true feelings for a girl named Mary Anne and it got a lot of airplay back in 1982 during the best times of my life. Like all great 24K songs, I can't get enough of it every time I hear it and I don't want to get pulled away from until it's done. It is included in my top collection of 24K songs which I guard with my life.

Recently, I heard that Rt is presently trying to recover some of the songs that they have lost due to the change of ownership of the station. I wish them a lot of luck for it is a daunting task. Some of these song aren't even even on the web and nobody except the old DJs know about them. I hope they are able to get all them because they're worth they're weight in 24K gold. It's not 24k without them.

Another Song That Should Be On 24K: Sons Of The Pioneers By April Wine

Everytime 99.5RT's 24K program fills the airwaves, I keep my ears glued to it from moment I wake up to the moment that I doze off. As I have said time and time again, it's because only at that time do I hear the songs that I grew up with and no station except RT has these great classic which are more valuable due to the fact that many were exclusively played there. Only 24K keeps these songs alive and when they get played, you just want to drop everything and just listen to the music all day long. Still there are some songs that should be included in RT's playlist. Another song that I want RT to add is "Sons Of The Pioneers" by April Wine.

This is another of those great songs that seemed to be lost as the decade ended. I remember seeing this on Channel 13's music video show and the first time I listened to it, I was hooked. It was the a had all the elements of an 80's rock song and in environment prone to new wave and pop, this was like breath of fresh air. Rock songs were a rare commodity back then and a good rock song was great find.

As I have said time and time again: Never take your favorite songs for granted. You'll never know when you're going to hear them again. As the years go by, you wouldn't notice that they don't play them anymore. One day on a rare occasion, you hear it on the radio, the effect just hits you like a portal opening to the past and you feel yourself overwhelmed by emotion. Just remember, keep those songs alive and share them with everyone else because they worth than gold.

One Of My Favorite Rock Songs: Raised On Rock By Keel

The trouble of growing up in the eighties was that a lot of the songs and music were mostly pop songs, most of which I wasn't able to appreciate during my youth. This was because most of the music I listened were the ones that my brothers played in the house such as rock, blues, jazz, folk and metal(there was some disco at the time and I was glad they broke that habit). As a result, I was always going against the flow and I had a hard time fitting in. That's why whenever there was a good rock song being played, I savored it like sweet water in the middle of a drought. One such song that I enjoyed listened to when I was younger was "Raised On Rock" by Keel.

This was one of those hair "metal" bands which was the prevalent type of rock during my generation. A lot of them had big hair, leathers and spandex, but they knew how to get the fans going once the volume went full blast. This was played a lot of times when I was on my way to school. One good thing about this song was that it waked me up in the mornings which got the adrenalin running and prepared me for my class. The effect was always better than pot of coffee when it came to waking up the soul.

More than just a good song, I had a lot of good memories about it such meeting good friends, sharing a drink and going places with other people. When the 90's rolled in, grudge became the "in" thing which didn't last very long. These days I really feel old because I can't relate to the music that's being played on regular days. That's why whenever the weekends roll in, I keep my ears glued to 24K Weekend cause it's music I can relate with and all the memories come alive for two straight days. I hope RT plays this song because there are a lot of good memories go along with it.

What Makes You Tick: Every Little Thing By Jeff Lyn

One of the reasons why I started the 24K blog is because there was a time when all these great tunes flooded the airwaves. Then in a flash, they suddenly disappeared. When I heard about 24K and tuned the radio to the program, all those great songs and memories came back to life in a flash. So when I set this blog up, I wanted to preserve these great hits and remember the times I had while listening to them as well as apply them to my expriences and points of view. A good song that I want 24K to add to their roster about relationships and getting to know more about people is Jeff Lynn's "Every Little Thing".

When it comes to wanting to know people better, this song fits the bill. Nowadays, people don't want to reveal to much of themselves because it is so difficult to trust people. When it comes to people we like, you sometimes get the feeling that there's a large and thick wall between you and that person. If you nothing or too much, you might wind up losing that person. At times like that, you have be very patient if you want to knock those walls down. To do that, you have to ask around and be able to utilize that information wisely if you really want to win that person.

It's not going to be easy but if it your determined, then you'll win in the end. Just remember not force yourself too much or that person might take offense at your actions. Just remember, don't let your emotions get the better of you, because it might just an impulse. It's only through knowing a person thoroughly that will determine if that person is right for you. Take your time and get to know them better and it benefit you in the end.

When Dreams Get To Vivid: Running Down A Dream By Tom Petty

Ever had those times when you're a sleep, you suddenly start dreaming. In that dream, you find yourself so immersed in the situation that you're in, you think it was all real. Then all of a sudden there's a burst of light and the next thing you know is that you better get dress and get to work cause you'll be late. Even though you make it in time, you can still remember the dream or parts of it because it was so vivid. That's the thought that enters my head when I hear the song "Running Down A Dream" by Tom Petty.

Whenever I get into one of those deep dreams, it's kind a freaky how real it can feel, especially the scary ones. It could also be surreal, when you find yourself in a situation where you never thought you would be in. When the dream is good, you'd wish you never wake up and when it's a bad one, you want to open your eyes. Some of the bad ones end without any conclusion really get to me because I wonder if it was real or if it will happen in the future. When that happens, it takes some time for me to shake it off.

A lot of times the vivid ones really get to me cause I can't help but think that it's either trying to tell me something or is it a preview of what the future holds. I'm not a superstitious but when something that deep isn't resolved, it really gets to me. In the meantime, I just go about my daily routine and hope the day ends well. I'll know when I'll be running down a dream again, but if I do, I hope it would be something good this time around.

Ultimate 24K Song!: Opposites Do Attract By The Allsports Band

Whenever it's 24K Weekend, my ears are glued to the radio and my cellphones loaded with enough credits for all the songs I want to request. Whenever I make a request it is usually the songs that I grew up with and were only played on RT, many of which can no longer be found on a conventional record shop or even the internet. One such that I have always requested stands out as the rarest of the rare. I have to listen to it for without, it's not 24K. That song is "Opposites Do Attract" by the Allsports Band.

Although the band never went further from their self-titled album, this song has been firmly imprinted in my mind like no other. Everytime I request it, it's like a game of hunter and prey as I wait for the song and would listen to it from begining to end. Everytime someone tries to bother me whenever I'm listening to this song, they usually regret it because I really get pissed off when that happens. More importantly although it's about romance, it takes me back to the days when we did everything together and all our friends were here as the party never stops. Only RT plays this song on 24K and they practically own it.

I'll never get tired of this song and even though I now have it (which cost me a king's ransom but was worth the price), I'll still keep on requesting it on 24K because I want to keep the song alive on the airwaves and it's only way that I know how to share it with everyone who listens to the program. If the day comes where I kick the bucket, I want this song to be played on my funeral. It's the ultimate 24K song and the rarest of the rare since no videos were made; it was only play on RT; and cannot be found on the internet. In closing, it's not 24K without this song.

Man That Hurts: Wounded by Honeymoon Suite

As I write this entry, the day is over and the cold air of the night starts to permeate through the room. Everytime the night comes, the memories start flashing through my head like an automatic dvd player. With all the melancholy events that transpired during the last few years, I have to admit my chest feels a little tighter everyday. A lot of times, it was like a blast to the chest whenever bad things happened and before I know it, I'm on the floor, barely breathing. When really bad things happen, it hits you hard really bad like the song "Wounded" by Honeymoon Suite.

Whether it's trouble from within pack, rejection from the outside or a dream going down in flames, it really hits you hard. It gets worse when it was something that you put your whole effort on or when it was something that you wanted so bad. One for sure, even if you are still breathing, it's not an easy thing to recover from. Don't be surprise if such a victim of cruel fate walks around like a zombie and is oblivious to everything and everyone. A cruel blow can really do that to a person and it takes a while to recover from.

In this recent situation, it sure took everyone for a wild and very bad ride. I wonder if the stupid jerk and his cohorts who did this realized what they have done. Just when things have settled down, here comes another chest-blower and boy, it really flew all over the place. So once again we are left with another emotional blowout and we are trying to carry on as best as we can. Now I understand how Micheal Corleone felt when he told Fredo that he broke his heart.

What You Can Achieve With What You Got: One Trick Pony By Paul Simon

A lot of times we take for granted all the things that are at our disposal as well as the talents that we have. When things don't go as planned, we make excuses for why we can't seem to get things right. Yet there are those with very little resources, limited talents or physically or mentally handicapped who succeed in life. More importantly, many of them are happy with what they have and ask for nothing more. Whenever I see how well they accomplish things despite so many obstacles and very little resources, I think of Paul Simon's song "One Trick Pony".

This song reminds of that old lesson that it's not what you got, but how you use them that's important. Seeing a lot of people succeed with much less, I realize that I have all these resources and I haven't used them to their full potential. After talking to a person my friend referred me to, I'm trying to do my best to implement all that she told me. I want to make the most of what I got and use them properly so that they can produce good results. I know it's easier said than done, but if guys with lesser abilities can do it, so can I.

Making the most of what you have is a lesson that I am presently trying to re-learn. I don't to be like those people whine all the time rather than do something to solve the problem. I've been reading a lot of articles, trying to establish contacts and networks and most importantly trying to go beyond my safety zone to achieve results. What I am trying to achieve is not just for me, but for the people around me as well. I just hope this time I'll succeed which is why I'm doing my best to make my dreams come true.

When He Looked Like He Was Having A Good Time: Don't Stop Till You Get Enough By Micheal Jackson

Last Friday, I was surfing the channels to look for something good to watch. Just as I was about to go to bed, CNN broadcast a breaking news about Micheal Jackson being rushed to the hospital due to a heart attack. Doctors were trying to do all that they can for him. As I picked up the stack of newspapers to scan for any press or photo release, it was all over the news that the "King Of Pop" has died and the whole world was shocked by his sudden departure. Right now, details of what happened to him are still making the headlines. Although he had a lot of great hits when I was a high school freshman, I'd rather go back to the earlier days when he didn't any plastic surgery and one song of his that I have to admit that I was fond of was the song "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough".

This song came out during later days of disco and if you saw the video, it was very primitive compared to today's standards. Still for anyone to have heard the song and seen the music video has to admit that there was something catchy about it. When he moved there, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't choreographed and he just made it up right then and there. His songs and moves have influenced many pop artist both here and abroad. The reason why I chose this song and video is because, I feel that he was himself here and he really looked like he was having fun.

A lot of celebrities and fans are saddened by his death and no doubt, if he had pulled through, he'd still have a lot to give. When I see this video and listen to the song, I would remember him this way. I know that there some people out there would agree. If only his eccentricities didn't get the better of him, things might have been different. Well rest in peace Jacko as your fans will miss you dearly.

Working At Night/Extra Income: Night Shift By Quaterflash

I remember when call center jobs started appearing on the want-ads on newspapers. Sure the pay was good and so were the benefits. I decided to try it out because at that time, it was something new and opportunities were scarce. Unfortunately, when I finally got into one, something very happened which distracted me and caused me to get cut from the program. Man, did I feel miserable for a long, long time. Whenever I read or watch anything about the call-center agency or any shift-work for that matter, I remember the song "Night Shift" by Quaterflash.

This was a very rare song that was played by RT when I was a kid and is real hard find. When I think back about what had happened back then, I guess it was for the best. I prefer to write than talk and I'm more of a morning person. I know the pay is high and the benefits are good, but I'll be too tired to enjoy it and things I want to do would probably conflict with the activities I would spend my pay with. Well some things aren't meant to be and this is one of them.

Be that as it may, atleast the call center industry has provided a lot of work for people in this country. A lot of people continue to apply or work in this industry. I have to bow my head to people who do this kind of work because it takes a toll on your body and mind and that's no understatement. A people who work here and in other shifting schedules jobs have sacrificed a lot just to make more income for themselves and their loved ones. More power to all of you who work on the night shift.

To A Cool Girl I Use To Know: Jackie Blue By The Ozzark Mountain Daredevils

It's not surprising for guys who to talk about a "special someone" who walked into their lives and turned it up-side-down. Some won the girl while others didn't and she still looms largely in their memories. Even if they didn't win the girl, they wouldn't speak harshly of her and instead remember the good times that they shared. Some are even greatful that they have met such a person because for a brief time that person brightened their lives. Whenever I think of such a girl, I listen to the song "Jackie Blue" by The Ozzark Mountain Daredevils.

I still remember her from way back when and everytime I saw her, she always had a way of stopping my heart. She always smiles and is very friendly to a lot of people. The first time I had a long conversation with her, I felt really different when I came home. I felt all charged up, like white hot steel that just came out of the furnace and my smile was from ear to ear. Even though she went with someone else, I still think highly of her for making me feel that way for the first time in my life.

I know all of us guys have their own Jackie Blue out there and they always have place in our hearts. They would always be special because they showed us a different side of life that we never knew existed at the time. To say it in one sentence, they taught what it love feels like for the first time. I don't know where my Jackie is but I do know she's in a good place and that she's happy. I am forever greatful for her for teaching me that and I wish her all the happiness in the world.

When Love Takes Root: Got A Hold On Me By Christine Mcvie

Everytime the weekend rolls in, all I can think about is the list of songs that I would request on 24K and save on load so I can text for my favorite songs. In this month of hearts, 24K sure has a lot of love songs and as I have blogged before, I'll filling a lot of my entries with loves songs played on 24K. I have already entered some songs of Fleetwood Mac which is one of all-time favorite bands. When Christine Mcvie came out with a solo album when it I was in highschool, one single became one of my all-time favorite 24K songs. The song's title is "Got A Hold On Me" and it clearly describes how love takes root and why we don't want to let it go.

It starts when someone always gives you support and never lets you down. For some reason, that someone always makes you feel good whenever you are together. It really is love when they stand by you in the worst times as well as the best. When you finally realize it's love, you won't let it go and will fight to have it with you. It really gets a hold of your heart when it's love.

Apart from a love song, this tune really makes me feel good whenever I hear it on the radio. Like all 24K songs, this really stops me in my tracks. I only saw the video of this song only once in my entire life and that was way back in first year highschool and thanks to online video streams, I can see from begining to end. A true gem of a song which I will neve tire for the rest of my life. Long live 24K forever!!!!

A Rare Find: Gold By John Stewart

As a guy who likes listening to golden oldies, I am very hard to please. I go for songs that are really hard to find which is why I became an 24k addict. It strikes me as odd that such great tunes can disappear and never be played again. It's sad because these were really good songs and the fact that the generation who listened to them forgot all about them is like throwing a perfect diamond to the ocean. I really like digging up these old songs because as I have stated in many of my entries , the songs not only sound cool, they also say something about myself as well as the good times I have shared with my buddies and my brothers, where it was a laugh, a beer, something stronger or all of the above, these songs are like important parts that make up who I am. One rare song that I was able to dig up was a song that was played by John Stewart back in ’79 called “Gold”.

I remember every time this song played, we would sing along with it. When Sold Gold premiered, this was one of the songs that were played live. The first time I saw John Stewart, I thought he looked like Clint Eastwood. My brothers and I would often laugh and think about it now still amuses me. It was the time of song you can sing along in your car or when you drinking with friends. What makes this song even more cool was the fact that Stevie Nicks sang back vocals for John.

I had forgotten who sang this song because it was no longer being played on air. As I grew up, fact that I can’t remember the singer’s name kept gnawing at my thoughts. Then one day I read in the newspapers a release stating that John Stewart has died of a brain aneurysm. As I read the write-up, something caught my eye and that was the fact he wrote the hit song gold which I liked so much when I was young. That really saddened me because for many years, I tried to remember who sang it and now that I know, he’s gone. Rest In Peace John and thanks for the song.
