Play It Safe This Summer: The Violence Of Summer By Duran Duran

Well with school no in the back burner, fun is all that kids care about now that summer is here. Road trips, beaches, all-night parties are what they are focus on. Right now they feel like sky-the-limit when it comes to what they can do for the next to months. My only concern is that they might do something reckless and get into some kind of trouble. Being careful during your break reminds me of the song "Violence Of Summer" by Duran Duran.

I've been a kid before and I know what it's like to feel restless and just go wild now that school's over. Looking back, I guess we were lucky because a lot of times we kept it low key which means keeping it within manageable levels of fun. These days, kids tend to push the envelope and often times get into situations that can go out of control. These days, they'll try anything over the edge and as the results often aren't pretty. Whenever that happens, not only they but other people are also affected.

I don't want to be a kill-joy and I know how it feels to just want to break out and do something out of the ordinary. Just remember the whole point is to have fun as well as have something to brag about when the vacation's over. Nobody wants any hassles when they're suppose to be having a good time. If it's too risky, don't do it. It'll save you and a lot of people some grief. So have fun but be careful out there.

Need To Take It Easy Before I Hit The Grind: Crash Into Me By The Dave Mathews Band

Whew, another hectic weekend has just passed and I still am not able to recharge my batteries. It's not only me but my brothers and parents still have to do and the work-week is just around the corner. If there's anything worse than a hectic week is an even more hectic weekend. What was supposed to be some down time to recharge gets spent other important matters. Well I guess when you get older, your rest time gets cut a little shorter through the years. When I think about about being half-charged as the new work-week dawns, the song "Crash Into Me" comes into mind.

I guess the easy-going times are over as more responsibilities get delegated to you. As much as you want some time to chill, these things just can't wait. So you pull whatever reserve energy you have and take the bull by the horns. It's going to be tiring but someone has to do it. It takes all your time and effort but it has to be dealt with even if you're tired and need to do other things. Just when you finish it, the weekend is over and its back to the grind.

It's like getting up from after struggling in the water only to be hit by a big wave as you try to get up. At best, it's only during lunch-breaks that I catch a few zzz. Even as I step into the door, something again needs to be done and here we go again. At times like that, I wish a was in deep-freeze. Well life waits for nobody and you have to do what needs to be done and tomorrow I once again will crash into the daily grind.

Ultimate 24K Song!: Opposites Do Attract By The Allsports Band

Whenever it's 24K Weekend, my ears are glued to the radio and my cellphones loaded with enough credits for all the songs I want to request. Whenever I make a request it is usually the songs that I grew up with and were only played on RT, many of which can no longer be found on a conventional record shop or even the internet. One such that I have always requested stands out as the rarest of the rare. I have to listen to it for without, it's not 24K. That song is "Opposites Do Attract" by the Allsports Band.

Although the band never went further from their self-titled album, this song has been firmly imprinted in my mind like no other. Everytime I request it, it's like a game of hunter and prey as I wait for the song and would listen to it from begining to end. Everytime someone tries to bother me whenever I'm listening to this song, they usually regret it because I really get pissed off when that happens. More importantly although it's about romance, it takes me back to the days when we did everything together and all our friends were here as the party never stops. Only RT plays this song on 24K and they practically own it.

I'll never get tired of this song and even though I now have it (which cost me a king's ransom but was worth the price), I'll still keep on requesting it on 24K because I want to keep the song alive on the airwaves and it's only way that I know how to share it with everyone who listens to the program. If the day comes where I kick the bucket, I want this song to be played on my funeral. It's the ultimate 24K song and the rarest of the rare since no videos were made; it was only play on RT; and cannot be found on the internet. In closing, it's not 24K without this song.

Memories Of Summer: The First Picture Of You By The Lotus Eaters

As I have said earlier, summer isn't always about big splashes in beaches or horse-back riding in Baguio or crazy gimicks. There are times when the suns starts to set and the summer wind starts to cool, I find myself suddenly looking back at the past and thinking of all the the things that have happened in my life. It's like a slide-show if images where you see yourself in your youth in good times and bad times. When they come together, it really hits you and time suddenly stops. It takes a while to come to my senses whenever that happens. One song that reminds me of all those summer memories is the song "The First Picture Of You" by the Lotus Eaters.

I remember they always showed this video back in the summer of 1986. Even when it was still new, I felt sense of nostalgia from listening to it. This was heightened by the fact that a lot of things both good and bad happened that schoolyear. There were hopes and aspirations and lot more disappointments softened by some good times. Those memories still haunt me to this day.

Whenever this gets played, I get the urge to sit outside the garden or look the window and the images from days past stream past my eyes. You can say I'm still a little unsatisfied and unfulfilled since the past has such a hold on me. Be that as it may, there were still some good times that made it worth while. You can't turn back time, but seasons have a way of bringing the past to life. And what I feel when I hear this song play on 24k regardless of the season.

To A Cool Girl I Use To Know: Jackie Blue By The Ozzark Mountain Daredevils

It's not surprising for guys who to talk about a "special someone" who walked into their lives and turned it up-side-down. Some won the girl while others didn't and she still looms largely in their memories. Even if they didn't win the girl, they wouldn't speak harshly of her and instead remember the good times that they shared. Some are even greatful that they have met such a person because for a brief time that person brightened their lives. Whenever I think of such a girl, I listen to the song "Jackie Blue" by The Ozzark Mountain Daredevils.

I still remember her from way back when and everytime I saw her, she always had a way of stopping my heart. She always smiles and is very friendly to a lot of people. The first time I had a long conversation with her, I felt really different when I came home. I felt all charged up, like white hot steel that just came out of the furnace and my smile was from ear to ear. Even though she went with someone else, I still think highly of her for making me feel that way for the first time in my life.

I know all of us guys have their own Jackie Blue out there and they always have place in our hearts. They would always be special because they showed us a different side of life that we never knew existed at the time. To say it in one sentence, they taught what it love feels like for the first time. I don't know where my Jackie is but I do know she's in a good place and that she's happy. I am forever greatful for her for teaching me that and I wish her all the happiness in the world.

When Love Takes Root: Got A Hold On Me By Christine Mcvie

Everytime the weekend rolls in, all I can think about is the list of songs that I would request on 24K and save on load so I can text for my favorite songs. In this month of hearts, 24K sure has a lot of love songs and as I have blogged before, I'll filling a lot of my entries with loves songs played on 24K. I have already entered some songs of Fleetwood Mac which is one of all-time favorite bands. When Christine Mcvie came out with a solo album when it I was in highschool, one single became one of my all-time favorite 24K songs. The song's title is "Got A Hold On Me" and it clearly describes how love takes root and why we don't want to let it go.

It starts when someone always gives you support and never lets you down. For some reason, that someone always makes you feel good whenever you are together. It really is love when they stand by you in the worst times as well as the best. When you finally realize it's love, you won't let it go and will fight to have it with you. It really gets a hold of your heart when it's love.

Apart from a love song, this tune really makes me feel good whenever I hear it on the radio. Like all 24K songs, this really stops me in my tracks. I only saw the video of this song only once in my entire life and that was way back in first year highschool and thanks to online video streams, I can see from begining to end. A true gem of a song which I will neve tire for the rest of my life. Long live 24K forever!!!!

When It Gets Too Much: Do You Really Want To Hurt Me By Culture Club

If my brother's see this entry, they'll probably ask me if I'm going crazy because I really don't listen to this kind of music, but nevertheless, it's part of my generation and it's on 24K. Ever get the feeling that there's too much bad and too little good that's been happening lately. You try to let it go when things go bad and just wait for the next chance to come by only to have lightning strike twice. Pretty soon, it's one bad thing after another and it's starting to take it's toll on your sanity. Once things go too far, you really have to stop and take a look around if someone's doing this on purpose. Whenever it gets to that point, I remember the song "Do You Really Want To Hurt MeA" by Culture Club.

Too be honest, I don't really listen to this band but I really can't think of another song that clearly describes what I feel when things get too much. I try to be level-headed and objected when bad things happen but when they pop up one after another, you're really starting to wonder what's going on. The hard part about it is that you try as hard as you can and follow the rules and you still wind up getting screwed. I try not to be like other people who explode over the smallest development but even my patience have their limit to crappy incidents. I try to work through the pressure and in the middle of it all, I fight the urge to point fingers and play the blame game which solves nothing.

I really hope things look up this year because last year really sucks big time. It' really break my heart if this year becomes repeat of the previous year because it makes you think that you're condemed to this situation. I just hope that everything that I'm working on bears fruit because time's gold and I'm not getting any younger. Of course I need to move and I just hope that this time around, I make the right moves. Life isn't fair, but doesn't mean it should be more unfair than it already is.

Getting That Old Feeling Back: Feel It Again by Honeymoon Suite

I know it's getting monotonous but I think I've writing a lot about breaking up or getting dumped in a relationship as well as the terrible hurt that one feels because of it.  Be that as it may, for the lucky some, it doesn't last that long because just when they think it's hopeless, they find someone better.  When that happens, the feeling that you've lost comes back a whole lot stronger.  I really proves Bergson's Shipwreck Theory correct.  Whenever I hear Honeymoon Suite's song "Feel It Again", I really appreciate that lesson. The song is about regaining that feeling that one lost when things fall apart.  I'm no romantic but when the heart starts to mend, it really feels good inside.  This song really got to me the first time, I heard it with it loud guitars and powerful vocals, it really hits the heart.  The bands of the 80's were masters of this which is why I miss the 80's rock genre alot.  This song has something for both rockers and romantics, alike and you don't get that anymore today.

Whenever I hear this song, for some reason it fills me with hope.  It's like discovering a precious treasure that you've lost for a long time and is overjoyed at process.  Very few of the DJs during the last days of RT knew about this song and it's one of the measuring sticks that I use to test how much he or she knew about the music the station played during my time.  Anyone who knew the song and played during 24k got my deepest respect, especially now that it no longer gets any air time.  As for romance, yeah I get a bit sentimental too cause it reminds of the good times in my life like 24k always does during those magical Friday nights.

Nostalgia/Hala!! Song: 65 Love Affair By Paul Davis

This is one of my 10 ten favorite 24k songs. When I say top ten 24k songs, these are probably the rarest of the rare. Almost no video was made and was seldom played after it's time came to pass. These are one of the songs that had a deep impression on me because it perked me up when it was played and we usually hear when there was a drinking spree and everyone's spirits were in full party mode (with a little help from a few beers, etc.). Beer or no beer, this song was always fun to listen and remains one of my favorites to this day. The song was "65 Love Affair" By Paul Davis.

This song really brings back memories of the good times that I shared with my friends and my brothers where weekends really rocked. On the other hand, for some people, it could be about remembering a sweet romance with a special someone who they share their life with in the past. Then again, it brings back a period in my life when we were almost caught red-handed by our mother during one of those "good times". I remember those blaring eyes as well as those spasms in her cheeks but fortunately we got away with it. That moment sends shivers down my spine when I remember it.

It was two years ago that I was able to hear this song again and boy it was the first 24k song I loaded in my MP3 player. I never get tired of this song because it takes the years of my shoulders and makes me feel good the way a 24k song should.
Just like Eddie Money's "I Wanna Go Back", it makes me want to travel back to those cool days and given the choice, I'd go back in a heartbeat. Sadly, I heard that Paul Davis recently passed away due to a heart attack. God bless you Paul and thanks for the cool song.
