It Is How I Feel Lately: Whipping Post By Allman Brothers Band

It's the weekend but I still feel low.  The same anxiety that has hit me two weeks ago continues to haunt me like the grim reaper on a terminally-ill patient.  So far, everything that I banked on went bust as if life forbids me to enjoy any kind of achievement.  When things keep going bad, you feel like you're being whipped all the time.  This is the reason why the song "Whipping Post" by The Allman Brothers comes to mind.

Nothing's been going right for a lot of us lately.  Every time I try to hope for the best, those hopes get shot down like a duck during hunting season.  What I get instead are a ton of problems and the worst part about is it happens when you already have too much to deal with.  Every bad news is like a lash on the back with a whip.  It makes you wonder if anything good will happen at all.

Well, right now I am just taking the bad as well as the good that life throws at me.  With more bad than good, that sure is hard to do.  Still I try my best to keep my head high despite all the disappointments.  Hopefully the day will come when all this bad juju will disappear.  When that happens, I won't be feeling like a whipping post anymore.

A Song For Remembering A Special Someone: Melissa By The Allman Brothers

Since March is Women's Month, don't be surprise if a lot of my posts will either have songs sung by women or are about women. I guess my way to pay homage to them. I know that sounds ironic coming from a happy bachelor. Still, like a lot of guys, there were some women in my life who I think from time to time. One song that makes me remember them is "Melissa" by The Allman Brothers Band.

Though none of them were named Melissa, they were all special in one way or another. Each of them were unique and despite their flaws, they sure left an impression on me. I can't help but stop what I'm doing and sit down and wonder where they are now. I had a lot of fun with them way back then and I have to admit I think about the could'ves and would'ves if I had been serious. They were that special.

Wherever they are, I wish them all the best. Though I never went beyond with any of them, they gave a lot of good memories. Though they are gone, the good times that I spent with them always cheer me up. Well, I guess that's enough reminiscing cause there's some to do. That thinking about always does that to me cause they were apart of my life.

Cool Gathering: Good Clean Fun By The Allman Brothers Band

Man, What a cool night I had! That get-together was a success as I spent the night with some of my high school batchmates. It was a long time since we've been together and after coping with a lot of stress, it was great seeing them again as we spent the nights exchanging stories over a few brews. It was everything that I always wanted in a gathering and thank God it was a success! After having a good time, I feel like listening to the song "Good Clean Fun" by The Allman Brothers.

I know this song is scouring but it is also about having a good time without any hassles. There was certainly no hassles that happened last night. I felt like I was in high school again as the conversation and laughter took the years away and for just night, we were all classmates again. We were all having a lot of fun that we didn't realize it was almost dawn. Even though I was stewed, I didn't cause I was with my people again and it felt great.

I am thankful that nothing bad happened last night because it's been a while since I had a good time and I haven't these guys in ages. I really hoped that that nothing would ruin the night and thankfully nothing bad happened. Initially, we thought about going out but to heck with that cause we were all having good time and the joints weren't good and didn't cater to our taste. As Don Henley said in the Sunset Grill, "All Our Friends Are Here" so why ask for anything else? Look forward to another round with them again sometime in the future cause last night was a blast!

Another Song That Helps Me Clear My Thoughts When I Feel Unfulfilled: Seven Turns By The Allman Brothers

What I miss about the good old days was the free time I use to have to relieve mylself from the week's stress. These days, I feel that there's no escaping it now and it doesn't help that the things that I lost keep coming in and out of my mind as reminder of unsatisfied I am. Times like that, it seems that the radio is my only refuge since all you have to do is turn it on and trip with the music. It helps put my mind at ease with the hope that one day I will be able to accomplish everything that's been sidelined in my life. One such song that does that is "Seven Turns" by The Allman Brothers.

This is one of the songs that I really loved during my las years in college. It gets better when I drive down the road and this song is playing. Not only is it one of the best driving songs that I've heard but also relaxes me physically and mentally, especially when there's no traffic and I get to go faster. It's also cool to listen to at night when you're alone and the moon is full. Gives you a chance to reflect on the day's events and take stock of what you'll do tomorrow.

I guess that's the reason why I'm so restless as well tense lately. With all the demands and problems that I've been facing, I feel so frustrated that the things that I've been working on haven't come through when I needed it most. Still, I will remain focus and one day, I swear I'll get it done no matter how many things get in my way. With songs like this to soothe my unfulfilled ambitions, I know I'll get by. It reminds me that there are things I need to do and once it's done then I'll be at peace.
