Strength And Reason To Keep Going: Strength By The Alarm

With the way things are, we are all trying to do all that we can to get by. Some have literally poured their blood, sweat and tears into in any kind of venture that would hopefully either make their dreams come true or simply make ends meet. There are times when it becomes so overwhelming that we loose focus or worse just give up. We have to remember the reason why we started this in the first place which will help us keep going till accomplish what we had set out to do. Need to be reminded of why we are doing what we do and the inspiration to keep us going reminds me of the song "Strength" by The Alarm.

A lot of people these days make a lot of sacrifices just to make it big. Achieving a dream or a goal takes a lot of passion and sadly, a lot of sacrifices too. Sacrifices like separation from loved ones, working long hours, putting your health at risks and so on. When the going gets tough we need to remember why and for who we are doing it. Sometimes a few words of encouragement, pictures of family and even having the consequences haunt you can really light a fire under you. Small gestures like that could wonders for the weary heart to keep on going.

I just hope that the beneficiaries of this effort will appreciate the hardship that these people are going to. This isn't just for them but for their loved ones as well. So I hope they support them during their time of hardship as they go against the flow with everything they've got. It's a tough world out there and they're just trying to keep with it. Give them strength and a reason, they'll not just keep on going but will achieve what they set out to do.

A Good Song For Independence Day: Spirit Of '76 By The Alarm

Well today my country celebrates Independence Day. As I headed home from my seminar, I can already see people on the streets getting ready for the event. Everywhere I turn, I see people either buying flags or signing pledges about their patriotism. Still, the questions for me are what real patriotism and has anything changed. Anyway, before I answer that question, when it comes to stirring the patriotic spirit in me, the song "Spirit Of '76" by the Alarm for some reason fits the bill.

Although this song is more remembering the good times with friends, the homegrown beat of this song really stirs something in me. I get the imagination that some patriot is calling to everyone that it's time to rise up. I guess that's the reason why I get fired up whenever I hear this song play. Remembering great things in the past and valuing the sacrifices made sure on Independence Day gets better with this song.

With this day upon us, I wonder if anything's change over the years since we've become independent. With the conclusion of the 2010 elections, the administration has changed but the politics remains to be seen. Will the new leaders make the change or go down the same road like all the rest? I guess only time will tell. I just hope that new change comes so that we can really appreciate our independence.
