Really Feels Good : Sir Duke By Stevie Wonder

As I've blogged countless times, you know that a song is good when it catches your ear.  You just stop what you're doing and groove to the sound.  Sometimes you start acting silly  but that's simply cause you're already caught up in the song. When you feel good after listening to it then it really is good.  One song that does that is "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder .

This is another one of those good songs with a heavy horn section.  Remember the days when the band played every kind of instruments from strings to percussions to keyboards and of course horns?  The more the merrier and every time I play this song it takes me to a time where people are happy on the street and the band strikes up a tune. Happy faces are everywhere and it gets passed on from person to person.  This is a high that I get when I hear this song.

You don't hear this kind of tune anymore.  Most of the songs I hear today are about morbid topics from clueless people who are so self-absorb.  Well no thanks to that,  I'd rather feel good and act silly listening to something that is good and this song fits the bill.   If a song can do that, well its a darn good song.

Just Making My Way Through This City: Living For The City By Stevie Wonder

Well, it's another one of those days again. Right after the long weekend's over, the stress starts to jolt me in its usual nasty way. I won't go into details but when problems starts popping out of the woodwork, it's a sad reminder of how hard things are and to make it worse, it's getting harder. Already, I am feeling the burn and I try hard not to get it down. What is important is that we make through the day in the crazy cities that we find ourselves in.

Holy Week just ended and once again we are confronted by the harsh realities of life. It's bad enough that you can't earn a permanent slot at work anymore. Prices are going up and things start breaking down. Sometimes you think that someone's playing a sick joke on you. Rather than give in to the pressure, you just brace yourself and take it all in cause its a fact of life no matter how annoying it gets.

Sometimes your lucky if you make just enough to make ends meet. Some people out there don't and are suffering right now. Well, I've made it thus far and haven't thrown in the towel. Hopefully, things will get better one day and I will keep working to make that happen. Until then, I'll just do what I can. Until then, I'll do what I can to make through the crazy situations that this city throws at me.

Wondering If One Is Superstitious: Superstition By Stevie Wonder

One negative effect about having to deal with every pile of crap that's thrown at you is that you start thinking if someone's out to get you. It gets to a point where you start to feel that every action you take might have adverse effects on you or people close to you. You become so self-conscious, you start thinking that that there's trouble everywhere and you get worried to the point that take any precaution to ensure that things will be okay, even if people start thinking you're weird or superstitious in the process. Getting the feeling that one is becoming superstitious reminds me of Stevie Wonder's song "Supertition".

It starts when bad things happen one after another and you start getting desperate on how to stop this. You try any kind of method no matter how eccentric just to ensure that things won't go wrong. it gets to a point where you don't even want to break from your routine because doing so might bring in something bad. Sometimes a call from home or news about a relative is enough to fill one with dreadful curiosity. When that sets in, you need to stop and start assessing your behavior before you do get crazy.

I guess to get over that you have to face the world and be prepared as best as you can. There are just things that happened that can hit you very hard even you do all that you can prepare for the world. In the end, there are some things we can't control and bad things happen. It's just a matter of dealing with them in the end. Sometimes it's kinda hard but if we let our superstitions control us, we might as well be living in a box which is something I don't want to do.
