Still Believe That Miracles Do Happen: Miracles By Jefferson Starship

You know despite my rants and woes about how hard things are and the annoying the developments that happens out of the blue, I still do my best to keep my chin up.  Even when my spirits are at an all-time low, I still believe that something good will happen not just for me but for those around me.  It helps keep me going during these tough and sad times.  One song that keeps me hoping that a miracle will appear is the song "Miracles" by Jefferson Starship.

Well I know this song is about love but we can all use miracles especially now that things are tough all over.  A lot of people out there have had it tough yet they never complain or give in to the pressure.  Many have managed to turn their lives around and even rise above difficult and impossible situations. That in itself is a miracle.  Guys like these inspire me and give me hope that if I keep on working on it, the world will turn.

Miracles don't happen just by rubbing a lamp or waiting for the fruit to fall.  You've got to work hard to make something happen.  The miracle is finding out what that is and using it to turn things around.  I am still hopeful that I will find that and hopefully that I be able to figure it out on my own.  That for me is a miracle that keeps me going.

What I Learned From The Last Game Of The NBA Finals: It's Not Over (Til It's Over) By Starship

Though I'm still not a basketball fan, I found myself glued to the finals of the NBA which pitted the Miami Heat against the Dallas Mavericks. Like a classic Cindarella story, the Mavs who were the underdogs threw everything they had against the much vaunted Heat. All their hard work paid off as they out-fought their much hyped adversaries to finally win their first championship. It reminded me that while there is still time as well as determination and hard work, anything is possibler. I guess for this post, I chose Starship's song "It's Not Over (Til It's Over)".

Despite having the odds against, I was amazed by the way Mavs played during the finals, they gave no quarter and fought for every point and rebound. Even during the sixth game, they played hard and showed the same grit and determination until the last horn sounded. They won because they were not complacent and new that every minute and every shot counted. Even when Miami got the lead, they fought to retain it and once they got the lead, they extended it to ensure the Heat wouldn't be never be able to take away from them. They left nothing to chance to the very last second and it payed off. I hate to admit but I enjoyed watching it.

As for the Heat, I guess it's back to the drawing boards and I feel sorry for their fans as their much vaunted Big Three turn out to be bust. They had every opportunity to win as much or even more so than the Mavs but King James choked. I guess this is what happens when the hype over-shadows actual performance as Le Bron now has to bear the consequences of his team's loss. Once again, I congratulate the Mavs on their win. They knew that it's not over until it's over.

Good Memories, Great Summers: Summer Of Love By Jefferson

When I see all this kids having as I make my way home, I have to admit I feel a little jealous because right now it's summer and they're having the time of their lives. Some are soaking at the beach whiles are cruising the night and looking for an adventure. I, on the other hand have to worry about making ends meet; making payments on the deadline as well as a lot of other stressful issues. Still, one good thing about seeing the kids having fun takes me back to the summers I enjoyed with my brothers and my friends where everyday was an adventure and the gang was all there. Remembering good times and cool summers reminds of the song "Summer Of Love" by Jefferson Airplane.

This song really brings me back to the great summers when the brew was cold and the company was warm. We'd party all day like it would never end and the best part about it was the fact that we met a lot of great people along the way. There was not a care in the world and the fun never seemed to stop. Then the awful reality dawns upon me that it's now just a memory and when that happens, I feel so old. Not a day goes by when I don't wish that I could back and relive those good times and see those great people again.

Whenever I hear this song, it goes up there with Eddie Money's "I Wanna Go Back" as the next best thing to a time machine for reliving the good times. Those were the days and as I listen to this song when the night comes, it really fill me with emotion as I miss those times and those guys. At least I was able to experience those times and the memories are still with me which is good enough. Sometimes I hear the laughter in the summer breeze when I feel sentimental. Great times and great summers; it still lives in me.
