Just BeSure You Live Wisely: It's My Life By Talk Talk

It's a fact that we all want to take control of our lives. To be who we want to be or do what we want to do is determines just how much we are in control of ourselves. There are times, however, when things happen and our lives take a bad turn where we not only hurt ourselves but others as well. When that happens, don't be surprised when freedom gets taken away from you and others start to intervene because you're going too far. Just like the song "It's My Life" by Talk Talk, I know respect that it is but that doesn't mean that you should put yourself in harm's way.

I'm not the type of guy who meddles in other people's lives, but when their mess becomes other people's mess, it's time to intervene. That's the reason why I try not to get into trouble because it brings an awful lot of heat. I've been through those times when things were just really bad and as a result people where on my case 24/7. If there's anything that I've learned from that harsh time is that I need to be more responsible with my life. Making mistakes is one thing but when they get out of hand, others can get hurt and that's plain wrong.

I respect the fact that people want to live their lives the way they see fit. Just don't hurt anybody else because when that happens, it's not just about you anymore. Also remember that one person can affect another, proving that we are all apart of one another. Nobody likes being restrained but that's the price you pay if you go too far. I know its your life but live it wisely.

Knowing Is Half The Battle: I know What I Like By Huey Lewis And The News

If there's any advice I would give to the young is know what you want and go for it. The most successful people out there knew what they wanted in life and did what had to be done to get it. Some got lucky while others tried something else and others became miserable. If you really want and if it makes you happy then, go for it. Now I understand what Huey Lewis meant in the song "I Know What I Want".

People who are successful are often those who stay the course. A lot of times, others would discourage them by telling them that they're not good enough or belittle their dreams which I find mean. Who are these people to say such cruel things when they themselves have settled for less or moaning opportunities that they lost. For these people, misery loves company and pulls others down because they themselves failed to get what they want. I wish people like that would shut up because who are they to say such things.

Still, once you know what it is that you want, it's just the first half of it. You to know what it takes to get there as well as what you have to make it happen. It won't just land on your lap just because it's what you want. Most important of all, learn things that will help you achieve your goal and be willing to listen to suggestions which are different from snide remarks because they'll help in the long run if you use them right. If you are able to do that, then you made it my friend.

That Was Some Quick Wave: I Ran By Flock Of Seagulls

I remember when New Wave hit the scene in the early 80's. Pants started getting slimmer and hair styles started to look very space age. A lot of bands from the UK who played this kind of music started taking over the airwaves. I wasn't a fan of this trend but a lot of my batch mates took to this music like fish to water. During my time, this music flooded the airwaves. One such band was riding on the success of this trend was A Flock Of Seagulls and one of the hit songs that they had was called "I Ran".

Though I didn't really listen to this band or this type of music, nevertheless it was played on Rt back then and also on 24K Week End. The first thing that struck about this band was it's hairstyle. They looked more like Hawkman that seagulls. Still I remember that once this song played on the radio, my friends started gyrating like Elvis. It was one of those songs that you heard on the radio 24/7 and thought that it would never stop.

Well, when the 80's disappeared, so did New Wave. When the 90's came along, grunge as well 60's and 70's style music became the norm. Today, it's seems that 80's music is enjoying a revival, though I think the new bands are a poor imitation of the genre. I guess you know that the trend is over when the music stops playing and the bands who played them suddenly disappear. One thing for sure, that was some quick wave.

Another Upbeat Song About A Feeling Dump: Smoke From A Distant Fire By The Sanford Townsend Band

For some reason, when I listened to the songs of the 70's and 80's, even if they're about depressing for some reason, they're still very upbeat. As if even though something bad happened, it's like better luck next time. A good example of this is in my entry of REO Speedwagon's song "Out Of Season". The song was full energy and cheerful even though the message was about the break-up of a relationship. Another song that was a similar that had a similar message was "Smoke From A Distant Fire" by he Sanford Townsend Band.

This was back in the days when the band was complete with horns, keyboards, guitars and drums. More importantly, everybody was giving it all that they got. Despite the depressing message of uncovering an affair, for some reason, this song is so upbeat. If I was listening to this guys in a bar, I'd probably drank a whole case of beer and not be drunk because this so cool. The music really gets to you that you don't the message of the song quite the opposite.

It was only during the 90's that the true expression of anger and angst was really made known in song. Still, whether I heard this song in the past or in the present, it rocks! That's the essence of what 24K songs are all about. They don't make them like this anymore. I pity the younger generation for it.

Hidden Secrets: Skeletons By Stevie Wonder

Back then, you think everything was picture perfect. People appear to be wholesome, upstanding citizens and you would trust them with your lives and even that of your family. What goes on inside their homes is a different story. Some may be doing that may either be out of their character at best or some very frightening at worst. How they appear in society may be a front for something dark that they're hiding. That's a lesson I learned from Stevie Wonder's song "Skeleton".

I have to admit I've watching too many HBO series because it always has characters who are not what they seemed to be. It's not that I'm paranoid or too quick to judge but sometimes when seem too perfect about somebody, there must something behind it. A lot of times, these people seem to be everybody's pal but for some reason, they always put a fence around them. It's like there's something inside them that they don't want you to know. If gets out, it could lead to their ruin.

I'm saying that we should poke around on other people's affairs. Still, we better be careful as to who we associate with. One's for sure and that's people are not all that they appear to be. The more the secrets, the more pleasant the disguise. If I was ask which scared me the most: a bandit with multiple weapons blazing or a geek with a hidden, I'd be more afraid of the latter. You'd never know when he'd whip that blade out and use it on you.

Tough Choice: Should I Stay Or Should I Go Now By The Clash

Ever had those times when yourself in a very tight squeeze? You know those situations where you find the thing you want the most within your grasp only to find that there are more pressing matters to attend. The worst part about it is when you've invested too much time and it was all for nothing. In the end, your own you wind up with nothing. Whenever there times when it's so hard to decide in a tight fix, the song "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" by the Clash.

For me, this usually happens whenever something comes out of the blue and disrupts my routine. I get on with my life then all of a sudden opportunity knocks and I'm force to drop everything and rush to it. The indecision comes in when it's not all that it's hyped up to be. In the end, you went through all that stress and nothing came out of it. That's a bummer.

Sometimes it sounds to good to be true that's why it's so hard to decide. When you read the fine print, however, it's not all that black and white. I guess it's all about making sure you know what you want right then and there. That why way you don't have to stress yourself out on what your plans are. And stress is definitely the last thing I need.

A Plea For Extending The Weekend: One More Saturday Night By The Grateful Dead

Whether you're young or old, you can't seem to get enough of the weekends, for the kids and young adults, sometimes the weekend partying is just too short. For adults who are worn out at the end of the week, there just isn't enough time to re-charge and just when they are about to unwind, it's back to the grind. Times like that, both parties probably wish for an extension just to get the most of out the weekends or even the holidays. The song "One More Saturday Night" comes to mind when we wish for a little more off-time.

It's getting brutal out there where every penny you make rides on every hour or even every minute of work you put in. When you're a kid, you want to go out and visit every place that you can and even party as much as you can. When you're an adult you're hoping not to wake up at 6:00 in the morning or for a few catnaps in the hopes of feeling refreshed before going back to work. Sadly for both the young and old, there's not enough time. Before you know it, the weekend's over and you're lucky if you keep your eyes open on the first day of work.

These days, it's all about time management and priorities even on the weekend. The ones that matter most comes first. For this reason, I always ask in advance what's the weekend plan to find out if I'm going to gets some rest or get even more worn out. If I don't get any down time , those are the breaks and just comfort yourself with the fact that something got done. Although sometimes, when I'm tired, I really wish for one more Saturday night. I could sure use it and so can a lot of people.
